The log file that contains the error message

Neither the radeon nor the radeonhd driver work for my ATI Radeon HD 4330. The graphics chip lives alongside with another graphics chip from intel, which works fine.

The error log excerpt which may be interesting looks as follows:

(II) RADEON(0): Bad V_BIOS checksum
(II) RADEON(0): Primary V_BIOS segment is: 0xc000
(WW) RADEON(0): Invalid ROM pointer, BIOS data will not be used

The radeonhd driver also complains about an invalid BIOS image.

The full Xorg.0.log is attached.

Linux distro: openSUSE 11.2
Computer model: Acer Aspire 5810 TZG

Is this a switchable graphics system? If so, you will have to select which graphics chip you want to use in the bios configuration. The open drivers do not yet support dynamic graphics switching.

You're right with your assumption. I turned off that switchable feature in bios setup. Unfortunately neither radeon nor radeonhd work properly. I get a blank screen. So I installed the proprietary driver from AMD/ATI which works fine.

This should work with KMS and vga switcheroo. Can you try that?
