I have one MSN friend who always shows as offline when using
telepathy-butterfly.  Using libpurple (telepathy-haze), she shows up as online
when she's online.  Also, using Pidgin, she shows up as online appropriately. 
But is always offline when using butterfly.  All the rest of my MSN contacts
appear to work normally (i.e. go offline/online appropriately) with butterfly.

I'm able to replicate this easily, so can easily provide dumps if needed. 
Please let me know what you'd like me to do.

Is this contact using the Web messenger client? if so this may have been fixed when we fixed this bug :

This was probably a dup of bug #26804 as Olivier pointed out.
