ATI Technologies Inc RV515 [Radeon X1300]

Fedora 12 with latest updates.

X.Org X Server 1.7.1 Release Date: 2009-10-23
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0
Build Operating System: 2.6.18-164.2.1.el5
Current Operating System: 2.6.31.6-166.fc12.i686.PAE
Build ID: xorg-x11-server 1.7.1-7.fc12
Module ati: compiled for 1.7.1, module version = 6.12.99
Module radeon: compiled for 1.7.1, module version = 6.12.99

Monitor is capable of 1920x1200 60Hz, as per documentation. And this machine originally ran Windows and was able to drive the monitor at full resolution.

I installed Fedora 12 on this box, and it is unable to do better than 1680x1050 60Hz.

Attached is the Xorg.0.log from the no xorg.conf run.

Kernel has to boot with nomodeset. Without the nomodeset the DVI port is black.

With monitors on both port VGA (monitor can do 1600x1200) and one on DVI port (monitor can do 1920x1200 x 60hz).

Initial startup into text mode, both monitors show mirrored text.
Starting X via startx, VGA monitor shows desktop, DVI monitor shows black screen.
Desktop thinks it streaches across both monitors.

Hi. Have encountered a similar problem.
With the configurations i have attached one monitor does not have signal within X. If i switch to console, then signal is back with clone screen.
KMS is disabled.

Running archlinux testing

kernel26 2.6.32.2-2
xf86-video-ati 6.12.4-3
ati-dri 7.7-1
mesa 7.7-1
xorg-server 1.7.3.902-1
Comment 7 Johannes Hofmann 2010-01-19 12:13:49 UTC
