I tried to open the attached file with xpdf in OpenSuSE 11.2.
involved installed rpms:
xpdf-poppler-3.02-4.3.i586
libpoppler5-0.12.0-3.7.1.i586

gdb output:
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0xb7f0f164 in SafeInt::SafeInt(SafeInt const&) () from /usr/lib/libpoppler.so.5

There is no attached pdf

We do not have any class named SafeInt so your distro is patching poppler and it's making it crash, complain to them.
