Can you still reproduce this? Does it still happen after a reboot? I just tried it again (after a reboot) and managed to narrow it down a bit. I can add a yahoo account if my availability is set to offline. If it is set to online, the account creation hangs as previously described. I tried this twice and it occurred consistently. I tried it with ICQ as well and had the same behavior (account creation hangs if status is available, but works if it is offline) I have the same problem since yesterday. It worked before and I don't know what has changed since then. I have installed just some minor updates (update for ukeyboard I think) but nothing related to IM accounts. Also, an additional info which was not mentioned before, is that when I click "advanced settings", it opens just a blank page without any additional settings and just "Done" button. I am sure that there were additional settings available before (like login server setting, enabling of SSL etc.) This behaviour is the same for ALL account types provided by this plugin (yahoo, icq, facebook, etc.) I have tried to reinstall account-plugin-haze with all dependencies several times but it didn't help. I am using Nokia N900 by the way. Please look into this, as I really don't know what else should I do. Thank you. (In reply to comment #4) Ok, additional information: on some forum I have found someone suggesting to launch this in console: HAZE_PERSIST=1 HAZE_DEBUG=all /usr/lib/telepathy/telepathy-haze and then to try to log in to see debug messages. So I have tried it and guess what... Everything worked and I can even access advanced settings. However, when I then stop the above command, I'm back at where I was, nothing works and advanced settings window is empty. That's pretty strange, but I assume this might give an idea about what's wrong. (In reply to comment #5) Some more information: The root of the problem is probably that when I run /usr/lib/telepathy/telepathy-haze as user, I'm just getting "Aborted" message and it quits. When I run it as root, it's running fine. I assume some permission problems? But I have no idea what exactly is causing this. So since telepathy-haze is a D-Bus service and should be launched automatically as I was told, and it is always launched as user, it probably gets launched, but is always aborting. So I need to find out why is it aborting. If you have any idea, please let me know. Thanks. (In reply to comment #6) Ok, problem solved :-) /var/tmp didn't have write permissions for user, I chowned it to user and now everything works. (In reply to comment #7) > Ok, problem solved :-) > /var/tmp didn't have write permissions for user, I chowned it to user and now > everything works. Odd. /var/tmp should be root:root with world-writable permissions. Looks like your permissions were just broken. |
