I receive an error in the empathy debug window when I log in in my sip account:

dispatcher_connection_advertise_capabilities_cb: Error: Object /org/freedesktop/Telepathy/Connection/sofiasip/sip/myuser_40mysipserver does not have interface org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Connection.Interface.Capabilities

This interface is not mandatory, and telepathy-sofiasip does not have much use for it currently.
Also, isn't Capabilities obsolete bong that we should replace with ContactCapabilities?

Not a bug. SIP is an example of a protocol where contacts don't advertise capabilities.
