As a normal user using nouveau I cannot alter the screen brightness of my laptop. Not using the function keys, not echo'ing the desired value to /proc/acpi/video/VGA1/LCDD/brightness. I can however become root with su, and then echo the desired value to this procfs node.

ls -alz shows:
-rw-r--r--. root root system_u:object_r:proc_t:s0      brightness

When I use Intel graphics on the exact same hardware (hybrid graphics - BIOS option), I can use the function keys for altering brightness.

Hardware: Asus UL50Vg with hybrid graphics (Intel intergrated/Geforce G210M).
OS: Fedora 12, all updates installed.
