Description druidic 2010-04-09 09:52:58 UTC
On the latest git master of xf86-video-ati, the console viewport stops short on the maximum resolution (1600x1200) shows only 48 lines. The resolution seems to be correct, but the whole available area is not used.

Upon starting gnome the desktop wallpaper is also repeated twice (overlaying one another), once for about 2/3 of its size in the top left corner and the second time in full size. That might be related.

I also have an S-video output automatically enabled during startup that has a significantly smaller maximum resolution (1024x768).

Running kernel 2.6.33.2

The console is limited to the largest available size supported by all attached monitors due to limitations in the kernel fb interface. Your tv is the limiting factor.

Okay. Thank you for your response. But what about the side effect with the wallpaper? It happens in gdm as well and I think that it is related.

Surely it's more of an annoyance, but is it fixable? Also, can I disable the tv-out somehow on the kernel command line and would that work around the issue?
