Description Jonny Lamb 2010-04-09 10:56:13 UTC
See bug #25272 for background for this requirement first.

I was thinking of adding a "contact-alias" (or something like that) string key to the Messages interface to solve this.

Thoughts, Simon?

It sounds a reasonable solution to that bug. I'd call it sender-nickname (to express that the name is chosen by them and pre-empt the Nicknames interface - insert usual burbling about nicknames vs. petnames vs. identifiers here).

Err, what? Check out my branch.

Branch looks good, yes. I don't think this needs spec cabal approval, so just merge it.

By "insert usual burbling here" I meant "see Bug #14540 and XEP-0165".

Cheers, merged.
