After update from mesa-7.9.0~git20100429+gallium+r300.f7cf8b46 to mesa-7.9.0~git20100503+gallium+r300.a1261436 (downloaded from https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/radeon ) I can't normally login to Gnome session of my Ubuntu 10.04 (i386). The screen is filled with colored spots. With difficulty I guess the location of windows and buttons to logout. In safeload Gnome session I turned off compiz effects and can normally login now. I can't find any error messages in logs when try to turn on compiz.

Is that a duplicate of bug 27924 ?
Try again with git master or just that commit :

Compiz works great here with current git and r300g. Closing...
