The iso10646 proposal in the url field recommends replacing the Drachma Sign in the 10646/Unicode code charts with a sign which is actually used in Greece.

Specifically it recommends a majuscule Delta stacked over a majuscule Rho, as in the utf8-art:

╲╲ Δ ╱╱
╱╱ Ρ ╲╲

Given Michael’s track record, it is a safe bet that the proposal will be accepted.  We probably should update our faces with that suggestion, too.

Yes, Everson has a lot of influence on this. But it's still a proposal and I haven't seen other people's reactions on this (and not everything Michael Everson proposed was accepted :-) ). It might as well be that a new code will be assigned for this. So as long it's not clear enough what's going to happen, it's best not to change glyphs yet.

It's still possible of course to already create an alternate glyph.

Agreed.  But having on open bug as a reminder seemed the best way not to
forget.
