I have dell studio 15 (dell studio 1555) with ati radeon 4570. The kms not work at all. Please attach your entire dmesg and your ums xorg log. Created attachment 37896 [details] [review] dmesg Created attachment 37897 [details] [review] Xorg log it's good? With old kernel it's try well too switch to kms, not with this kernel. Ok, for some reason the kernel is not able to access the vbios rom while the the ums driver is able to. Did kms used to work on your card? If so, which kernel? I have try 2.6.34 branch, and this kernel what I try is the kernel 2.6.35-git14 (gentoo) on core2duo linux x86_64 Other behavior, for have 3D acceleration I need activate in the kernel: Device Drivers -> Graphics support -> VGA Arbritration Device Drivers -> Graphics support -> Laptop Hybrid Graphics - GPU switching support And disable: Device Drivers -> Graphics support -> DRM -> kms for radeon Created attachment 38088 [details] [review] possible fix Does this kernel patch fix kms? Created attachment 38108 [details]
dmesg after patch
Same after your patch., see the dmesg after patch More info: Which this patch I have NO 3D AT ALL when kms is disabled. Mass closure: This bug has been untouched for more than six years, and is not obviously still valid. Please reopen this bug or file a new report if you continue to experience issues with current releases. |
