Description aaron 2010-09-05 02:56:33 UTC
ive bisected to this commit:
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/airlied/drm-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=8b8d01dff630e9725828689d001ec9bc5baba0b7

odd thing i noted:
if i run compiz with vblank_mode=0 and run glxgears it reports a frame-rate of about 1500 fps ( being the same as i get when running the previous revision kernel) but its still looks as slow as molasses
if i unset vblank_mode then run it it reports about 5 fps but looks the same as before

I think this one is well knows, have you tried disabling writeback with no_wb=1 as radeon module parameter?

Also note that gears is _not_ a benchmark.
Comment 2 aaron 2010-09-05 05:05:55 UTC
yep passing radeon.no_wb=1 to the kernel fixes it

@glxgears i kinda expected that but i don't think im using it for one...
im just trying to show the difference between reported and apparent frame-rate in certain situations - it just seems odd...
