Description Victor NOEL 2010-09-20 23:37:49 UTC
Hi,

I had this problem for some times but today it was worst and I needed to reboot to overcome it.

I have a laptop connected to an external screen through DVI on a station.
Both screen are on (see xorg.conf attached next).

I am using mesa 7.8.2, xf86-video-ati 6.13.1, xorg 7.5 (xorg-server 1.8.1.902), kernel 2.6.35 with KMS enabled.

The thing is that from time to time both screens turns all black, then come back and continues working.
Today when the image came back, it stays frozen and I had to do an hard reboot.
When I rebooted, the laptop screens was blank/white, it happened some times in the past, and I need to turn it off, then turn it on again for that to disappear.

Hopefully I have a kernel log (attached next) that shows the radeon driver (radeon_fence.c) crashing or something like that.
We can see on Sep 20 11:13:05 the screen turning black then coming back and working. Then on Sep 21 07:58:10 again except that this time it stayed frozen after coming back.

More information can be given if needed.

Thanks

xorg log

The xorg log is unfortunately not the one from the crash, but I checked it at the time and there was no specific error (at least at the end) in it.
