Description Vasyl Demin 2010-10-28 08:46:00 UTC
Computer: iMac 8,1 20"
Video: ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT
OS: Arch Linux x86_64
xorg-server: 1.9.0

The display has a strange moiré-like effect (picture looks "instable", like the surface of disturbed water), that is not present under MacOS 10.5.

There are light vertical wavy floating lines visible on the screen. They are more clearly seen when you look the screen at an angle, from down below you look upwards to the screen. The floating lines can be precisely seen on grey backgrounds. These lines are not noticable much, but when you closely look with grey backgrounds, they are visible.

The problem is observed on the different drivers:
xf86-video-ati 6.13.2 (with or without KMS)
catalyst 10.10
vesa 2.3.0

I've tried different resolutions, but it did not help.

What kernel are you using? Can you attach your dmesg output? Does booting with radeon.new_pll=0 on the kernel command line help?
Comment 7 Vasyl Demin 2010-10-29 02:26:59 UTC
Alex, thanks for fast reply!

I'm using the 2.6.35.7 kernel.

I booted with "radeon.new_pll=0" and later with "nomodeset radeon.new_pll=0", but nothing helped.
