Description Hendrik Knackstedt 2010-11-21 10:54:10 UTC
Original description from Gnome:

»Since yesterday authentication to ICQ fails with the error message "<ICQ ID>
Network Error". This happens on every computer I own. Maybe ICQ changed
something concerning authentication? It worked fine before and nothing was
changed on the existing accounts.

Reproducible: Simply open Empathy and let it try to connect to ICQ on startup
for an existing account.

Running on Ubuntu Maverick 10.10.«

Additional info:

In Pidgin this problem can be solved by disabling SSL functionality so there it's probably related to SSL connection.

See this Pidgin bug: <http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/12886>. It appears to be a server issue.
Comment 2 Omer Akram 2010-11-23 12:13:11 UTC
an update in Ubuntu to libpurple fixed the issue for empathy users.
