Description cinolt 2010-12-06 10:51:08 UTC
My Desktop Environment is GNOME 2.32.1 and I have installed uim 1.6.0-2. I want the uim systray to appear whenever I start a GNOME session, so I have this in my ~/.xinitrc:

export GTK_IM_MODULE='uim'
export QT_IM_MODULE='uim'
uim-xim &
export XMODIFIERS='@im=uim'
uim-toolbar-gtk-systray &
exec gnome-session

However it does not appear. When I check the running processes, uim-toolbar-gtk is running in Zombie state.

What does work, though, is running uim-toolbar-gtk-systray after logging in. So it appears that it just doesn't like running at startup.

uim-toolbar-gtk-systray requires a system tray program working before the program is executed. So please don't run uim-toolbar-gtk-systray in ~/.xinitrc.

Use /etc/xdg/autostart/ instead, for example.
