Forwarded from Gnome bugzilla. The following bug appears when using evince or poppler-glib-demo to draw selections. 

1. Download the following document:
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jvms/second_edition/ClassFileFormat-final-draft.pdf
2. Open page 54 which is numbered 146.
3. Select the word "reflective" on the second row from the top.

Then the ligature "fl" gets rendered with another symbol, in my case "ß"

Possibly related to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83401, which seems to be fixed. Can you check again with a current version?
