Description 03031987 2011-02-26 05:13:25 UTC
The words Schusterjungenregelung and Hurenkinderregelung which are correct typographical terms as described here
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurenkind_und_Schusterjunge
are very offending in todays (german) language usage.

You can navigate to them by:
 - open the "Formatvorlagen" dialog: Format->Formatvorlagen
 - Then right-click on one entry and select "Ändern"
 - Now you go to "Textfluss" and you can see them on the lower half of the window

The english equivalents are orphan control and widow control.
(They are described here: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/OOoAuthors_User_Manual/Writer_Guide/Working_with_paragraph_styles and here: http://www.typolexikon.de/h/hurenkind.html and here: http://www.typolexikon.de/s/schusterjunge.html)

Perhaps these terms could be translated in another way to ensure that they aren't offending to 95% of the german users...

As described in the wiki-page, Waisenkind and Witwe are also possible translations.
Comment 1 André Schnabel 2011-02-27 14:07:17 UTC
taking this one.

Has been often discussed - but this the first time someone gives a better translation with reference :)

I'll forward to german lists, as a change would also need to be reflected in online help and documentaiton.
Comment 2 2011-12-04 05:39:33 UTC
After a discussion again at the german discuss mailinglist, the majority is the opinion, these two terms are correctly and better than the alternatives or any description.

Therefore I close this Bug today.
