hdmi audio is not supported yet on evergreen and northern islands asics. Does it need something like releasing documentation from amd, or you just haven't got enough time to implement this? Is it very different from r600-r700? Approximately, when it's planned to be implemented? Thank you for answers (In reply to comment #2) > Does it need something like releasing documentation from amd, or you just > haven't got enough time to implement this? Thank you for answers It needs one of the following: 1) Releasing docs 2) RE on fglrx Support for previous cards was implemented thanks to RE performed on fglrx. Unfortunately I don't own any 5xxx or newer card, not sure about Christian who could be capable of RE that family too. AMD tries to provide docs for months, if not years now. I have also just been noticing this on my Zino HD (Dell Inspiron 410) with the ATI Mobility HD5400 series card. I get sound if I install the Catalyst driver (but the picture is absolutely horrible). I get a perfect picture with the radeon open source driver but no sound. If it is any help, I captured alsa-info output for the same hardware with the different drivers. Pretty much everything is near identical till it gets to the very end with the dmesg output where there are lots of HDMI hotplug events with the Catalyst driver and no such events with radeon. Links to the alsa-info and my other experiences with the system can be found at: http://home.comcast.net/~tomhorsley/hardware/zino/zino.html#Fedora Guess like this can be closed? HDMI audio has been supported for a while. |
