Hi, I tested doPDF 7.2.359 with DejaVu Sans 2.33 in Windows 7 64-bit and I can confirm that printing fails. I'm still getting a document with non-visible but selectable text though. However it works fine with PDFCreator 1.2.0, as does the .pdf export in LibreOffice 3.3.1. Could you check with the makers of doPDF and see whether the problem is on their end or on ours? Thank you for the reply! I wrote e-mail to the administrators of doPDF and now I'm waiting their reply. But now I tested printing with the program PrimoPDF and the problem is still there. I'm confused what can create such a bug. And it's interesting that it is only in DejaVu Sans. (In reply to comment #2) > Thank you for the reply! However we were never able to find out what was causing this. Especially since it seems only to affect specific (mostly older) applications running under Windows. DejaVu Sans covers a wider range of characters than most fonts and it makes use of several OpenType features. It is possible that some programs are just not able to deal with them. Another possibility is that there is a bug somewhere and the programs that do work have better error handling. Either way, any information on this issue would be appreciated. Here is the message from novaPDF, the developers of doPDF: (quote) Hello, We have tested all the DejaVu fonts with the latest doPDF version on all the Windows 7 versions and all the prints with and without embedding were successful. Thank you. (quote) Very interesting answer. I think you are right and some programs have a problem with these DejaVu Fonts because of the big character set and all the OpenType features used. We can let this bug open for further information but for now this problem is not so big and I will use other DejaVu fonts for PDF printing. Thank you! |
