Forwarding this bug from Ubuntu reporter Brewster Malevich:
http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/732425

[Problem]
One of several different arrandale GPU lockup bugs we've had reported. I'll forward the others as well; their IPEHR's differ.

[Original Description]
I closed the lid of my Thinkpad x201 to it to sleep. When I opened the lid, I was greeted with a white screen with streaking black pixels that soon produced my login prompt. After entering my password, I had this crash report.

[ 3866.553053] [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung
[ 3866.555804] [drm:i915_do_wait_request] *ERROR* i915_do_wait_request returns -11 (awaiting 1025147 at 1025141, next 1025148)

Bryce, this is the same hang as 35576 (IPEHR 0x0182000) and I double checked the launchpad files to make sure. Can you remember which lp bug has IPEHR 0x7a005502?

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 35576 ***
Comment 6 Bryce Harrington 2011-03-29 21:54:02 UTC
Interesting, the intel_gpu_dump and the i915_error_state have different IPEHR values.
Comment 7 Bryce Harrington 2011-03-29 22:04:29 UTC
LP bug 745015 also had IPEHR 0x7a005502 in intel_gpu_dump, but IPEHR 0x0182000 in the i915_error_state file. Seems odd that the two sources differ on the IPEHR for the same lockup bug. Obviously in Ubuntu we need to deprecate use of intel_gpu_dump.

Btw if you're curious what other GPU lockup bugs we're tracking for natty, here's a shortcut search URL:
