Description Yaniv Kaul 2011-03-29 14:09:20 UTC
I believe the hash function is relevant to more than just the driver (or is it in the server?), but there are much faster hash functions than what we use today. Example - http://code.google.com/p/smhasher/wiki/MurmurHash3

Not done yet, but the murmur3 patch is in the X driver - http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-qxl/commit/?id=70d0d49b7c7d115f297dae710b9bb62b97fa22d5, didn't compare murmur2 to murmur3 but did compare lookup3 to murmur3 at https://gitorious.org/hash_tests/hash_tests
