Always when I watch videos in vlc (last time after 1 minute, before it took 20 minutes) suddenly the ram-usage increases fast until 100% are in use (this takes only 7 seconds), then the system freezes completely. I don't have this problem with flash-videos.

All radeon options default, except "RenderAccel" "off" (see bug 36754).

Sorry – this bug has nothing to do with the radeon driver; it's caused by vlc itself (failing with pulseaudio), see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlc/+bug/743323.

Since I don't know how to close this bug report I'd really appreciate it if someone else could do that. Sorry again…
