can you give details of which cell has the offending check ? Any of the ISBN cells -- columns K-M in attached. Works for me if entries are Text. For example, column L Validity is Text length between 12 and 18. Entering text with less than 12 or more than 18 characters is refused. Others is accepted. If your data is number, works also but only if cell is formatted as "text". May be you expect Text-length validity working with numeric value ? Yes, the cells are formatted as numbers, which is default for spreadsheets. Good point anyway. I guess we are expecting LibO/OOo to do this more like a "string" length validator -- as Excel does regardless of data format -- or a more obvious error when it fails as such. going to mark this as a potential enhancement then Answered -- not NEEDINFO anymore. [This is an automated message.] This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases. Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugHunting_Session_3.5.0.-1 more detail on this bulk operation: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/RFC-Operation-Spamzilla-tp3607474p3607474.html It persists in 3.5.0beta2. |

Created attachment 46361 [details] ISBN text-length validation fails. The data validation for text length basically does not work at all as expected presently for LibreOffice or OpenOffice.org Calc, but it does in Excel. That is, if you enter anything in such a cell, you will get an error and have the cell data reset. Attached is an example XLS; any of the ISBN fields do this.
