Description Cosimo Alfarano 2011-05-18 04:56:37 UTC
It happened a bunch of times that entire chat sessions were logged only with my messages (outgoing) and missing the other end ones completely (incoming).

I am using Debian's 0.2.9, gabble 0.11.10-1 and MC5 5.7.9-1.

TPL_DEBUG=all didn't show anything (everything were logged as expected).
I cannot reproduce it, still looking for a way.

Last time it happened after a reboot, so nothing manually started or just updated; as soon as I tried to TPL_DEBUG it, it restarted working.

More info:
After reporting the bug it happened again.
I then killed TPL and run it manually with TPL_DEBUG=all for the whole day, it never happened again.

Emilio suspected some crashes happened, but the manually run never crashed and anyway when I noticed TPL not logging incoming messages, it was running, but writing only outgoing communications.
I'd exclude a "lost messages due to crash" scenario.

I am suspecting some sort of race condition somewhere, not excluding it outside TPL.

MC got quite some fixes recently, do you still get those issues with recent MC ?
