Hi,
I use a plain PC with 
0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Matrox Graphics, Inc. MGA G200 AGP (rev 03)
Debian Linux and debian package xserver-xorg 6.8.2.dfsg.1-2 .

Works well, but if I try to switch to the text console (Ctrl-Alt-F1), then 
the screen becomes filled with garbage.

Recompile xorg with gcc-3.4 or gcc-4.0-cvs or update xorg.
