Description Balló György 2011-06-27 03:26:01 UTC
After I updated telepathy-glib from version 0.14.7 to 0.14.8, I unable to connect to link-local XMPP accounts with telepathy-salut in Empathy.

Used package versions:
empathy 3.0.2
telepathy-salut 0.4.0 and 0.5.0
telepathy-glib 0.14.8
avahi 0.6.30

The error message was:
telepathy-Message: Get Channels property failed: Name owner lost (service crashed?)
(empathy:1819): telepathy-WARNING **: Failed to determine whether we can set groups on Telepathy account 'Közeli emberek': Name owner lost (service crashed?)
(empathy:1819): telepathy-WARNING **: Failed to determine whether we can set aliases on Telepathy account 'Közeli emberek': Name owner lost (service crashed?)
(empathy:1819): telepathy-WARNING **: Failed to create contact for self handle '1': Name owner lost (service crashed?)

Steps to reproduce:
Add and enable a 'Nearby people' account in Empathy.

Hmm. Didn't mean to post that as-is. This has been fixed/worked around in Gabble and Salut Git, but whether or not tp-glib should be changed back is an open question. On the one hand, it's technically an ABI break; on the other hand, the assertions that Gabble and Salut were making were silly.

This change was backed out from telepathy-glib 0.14.x, and all the CMs were fixed to work with telepathy-glib 0.15.x.
