Bug detailed description:
-------------------------
On gnome-session with compiz,When running 3D games or its
demo(urbanterror, openarena) it works fine on IVB, but there will be some "missed IRQ" error messages in dmesg .When cat i915_error_state,no error state collected. But When enable semaphores, there is no error message.

Especially,without compiz,it's OK.

Reproduce steps:
----------------
1. gnome-session(enable compiz)
2. run 3D games or its demo

what's the difference with bug#38862?
Comment 2 libo 2011-09-29 19:19:29 UTC
In bug#38862,the screen will be stuttered when run games or demos, what's more, it has the problem of "GPU hang".
in this bug ,the games or demos work well and have no such problems. It only has "missed IRQ" error messages in dmesg.

Add a word ,this problem will also appear when only start gnome-session with compiz even if you didn't run any games or demos.

After discussion on bug #38862, let's use that one for tracking the dmesg messages. The GPU hangs are handled by bug #38863.
