I have tested this in Safari 5.1.2, and it works as it should. However, the screen shot attached to this bug is from IE8. I have tested this in IE8 and I am able to replicate the bug. (Both browsers are running on Windows 7). 

I am therefore re-titling this bug to refer to IE8.

Rob, since you say this patch doesn't belong to this bug i'll mark it as "obsolete" so it doesn't turn up in searches etc.

This is a very old report. If this problem is still valid for latest IE releases (as of 2013-05-30 that is IE 10.0.5) feel free to re-open this bug.
