I still get total-system-freeze on my laptop with ATI FireGL T2 radeon and desktop with Radeon 9600 AGP. Solution: use the ATI proprietary drivers. I've had this problem since 6.9 pre releases on Mandrake, and I still have it on the latest 6.9 packages from Mandriva. Xorg 6.8.2 was the last release that workd for me. I currently totally avoid the radeon driver that comes with Xorg releases. That's unlikely the same issue as reported in this entry, but FWIW there's a good chance that your issues are resolved in xf86-video-ati 6.6.0 or 6.5.8. Closing this bug due to the lack of activity from the bug poster. If this still is an issue with a current version of xorg, reopen. |
