Which is weird. I am in sudoers, and I don't normally allow root logins.

Login dialogue has at least three problems:

1. It requires root login and no way to change settings to use sudo

2. By default checkbox "Remember password" is checked, so it is easy to overlook it in a hurry and leave it checked, which is a serious problem.

3. By default checkbox "Current session only" is unchecked, so it is easy to leave it unchecked even when leaving (2) checked in consideration, that session is short.

I want to authenticate my GUI package and it requires the root password. I have forgotten the root password. It would be helpful if anyone could shares the steps for retrieving the root password.
