Description Nicolas Mailhot 2005-09-12 13:21:35 UTC
When windows move around (when the user draggs them or when they are created)
traces are left over in the root desktop window (nautilus)

-> screenshot

This using Mike A. Harris experimental monolithic packages on x86_64 fedora
devel + Radeon X700 PCIE

This is my main home system that is dedicated to Linux so I'm ready to provide
as many testing as needed to get it working. The mobo + cpu + gfx card was just
replaced after an harware problem.

Does the problem still occur if you disable acceleration (noaccel option)? Also
are you using EXA or XAA? If you are using XAA, try disabling specific XAA
accel routines (see the xorg.cong man page for how to do this).
Comment 7 Nicolas Mailhot 2005-09-13 12:40:33 UTC
The xorg log says its XAA :

II) RADEON(0): [drm] drmOpen failed
(EE) RADEON(0): [dri] DRIScreenInit failed. Disabling DRI.

(II) RADEON(0): Memory manager initialized to (0,0) (1280,8191)
(II) RADEON(0): Reserved area from (0,960) to (1280,962)
(II) RADEON(0): Largest offscreen area available: 1280 x 7229

	Offscreen Pixmaps
Setting up tile and stipple cache:
		32 128x128 slots
		32 256x256 slots

(II) RADEON(0): Acceleration enabled

Comment 8 Nicolas Mailhot 2005-09-13 12:48:27 UTC
In noaccel mode there are no artifacts but the thing is slow as a snail
Comment 9 Nicolas Mailhot 2005-09-13 13:10:05 UTC
I can't reproduce the problem with XaaNoOffscreenPixmaps
