Thanks for new idea May be in template should be additional style for Appendix chapters? (numbering style, not paragraph) Can you attach a document displaying current behavior? Going to mark as NEEDINFO until the attachment is made. Once you do this please move status back to UNCONFIRMED. Thanks for the suggestion @Joel Madero: What current behaviour would you like the document to display? There is no current behaviour, that is the crux of this bug. I have provided clear reproduction instructions to illustrate the missing feature. Shall I create and attach a document in which all the steps have been completed up to the step in which the needed feature is unavailable? Confirmed, thanks for explaining, apologies for asking for a document that can't really be created. It would be helpful to show current behavior just so a developer can easily play around with it but it's not crucial, if you get around to it, please add the attachment that just shows: 1) Create the following first-level headings: In the beginning In the middle In the end References Definitions 2) On the first heading right-click and select Numbering/Bullets -> Outline -> pick a numbering type (I choose the upper-right hand corner type). 3) Switch to the "Options" tab, in the "Before" field put the string "Chapter ". 4) Press "OK" 5) On the "References" heading right-click and select "Restart Numbering". Now, we need a way to change this: Chapter 1. In the beginning Chapter 2. In the middle Chapter 3. In the end Chapter 1. References Chapter 2. Definitions Up to that point, I believe that this is possible. Prioritizing: Enhancement Low: Compared to a lot of other requests I don't believe a lot of people will benefit from this -- only people making relatively extensive documents. Example ODT showing different "before" separators for headings.
It is currently possible, via workaround, to obtain the difference in Before separator proposed in this enhancement. This report probably needs the summary to be amended for clarity i.e., allow different Before separating text for the same outline level. I am not sure how possible this would be, or even if ODF supports it, but that appears to be the general nature of this request.
In the attached example I have used outline numbering. Outline numbering only allows ten levels. The workaround is to set the endpaper headings to a different level to that of the headings in the main body.
In the example the "Heading 1" paragraph style is set (by default) to level 1 and the custom "Heading 1 appendix" paragraph style has been set to level 6. I could have alternatively amended the provided "Heading 6" paragraph style. In this manner level 1-5 can be used in the main body and levels 6-10 used in the endpapers.
