Notice how the limit of the purple are is slightly oblique... maybe that contains a clue as to what the problem is.
This was tested against an old version of mesa. Does this still persist on mesa 11.0.x or later? Benoit Jacob, Ubuntu 11.10 reached EOL on May 9, 2013.
