Description Jure Repinc 2005-09-20 12:21:39 UTC
I'm using Mandriva Linux 2006 (RC2+) for AMD64 which has Xorg 6.9.0 from CVS
dated 2005-09-15. My graphivs card is Nvidia Geforce 6800 AGP and I'm using the
opensource nv driver. The problem is that it happens very often that windows and
some other screen elements ot the whole display gets corrupted. I'll attach a
screenshot of the problem. You can also see reports of other people with this
bug here:

Oh I forgot to mention. The corruption goes away if I switch to another console
like with Ctrl+Alt+F1 and then back to Ctrl+alt+F7.
Comment 3 Antoine 2005-09-22 12:19:23 UTC
This is not only on AMD64 but also on i386 (see aforementioned Mandriva bug
entry for more info, including log file).

Also, the proprietary nvidia driver does not exhibit this problem.

I reported this not too long ago on Fedora Core's bugzilla, only to find it here
a little while later:

Comment 5 Mike A. Harris 2005-09-26 19:03:41 UTC
The problem is not x86_64 specific, but occurs on all architectures,
and on GeForce 6200, 6600, and 6800 hardware, perhaps others as well.

Here is our master bug for tracking this:

Comment 6 Aaron Plattner 2005-10-03 13:48:40 UTC
This should have been fixed on 2005-09-16 by Alan Coopersmith's port of Mark
V.'s changes to XFree86. Marking a duplicate of bug 4480, which tracked that.
