Poor 3D performance on OpenGL applications compared against older ATI cards using the Radeon driver: http://free3d.org/

System:


3.8 GHz PhenomII x4 core AMD processsor
4GB DDR3 RAM
Sapphire Radeon 6950 graphics card


Tested using "vblank_mode=0 glxgears" for longer than 30 seconds, in Openbox with only one terminal open:

Maximum framerate: 1259.137 FPS

"Gears is not a benchmark." Correct, but I haven't been able to get any benchmarks to successfully run yet. I would be happy to run any you suggest that work. I feel that the low FPS seen in glxgears is indicative of the low FPS seen in other OpenGL apps on my system. Such as OpenArena running at less than 60 FPS.
