Description Axel Boldt 2012-04-12 09:45:32 UTC
Running LibreOffice 3.5.2.2 on Windows 7.

Go to http://www.edge.org/responses/what-is-your-favorite-deep-elegant-or-beautiful-explanation in Firefox and copy the whole document (Ctrl-A Ctrl-C), then paste it into a new Writer document. The program hangs.

This is a rather large HTML file, but not overly complicated. MS Word 14.0 processes it on the same hardware in about 20 seconds.

[Reproducible] with "LibreOffice 3.5.2.2 - Build ID: 281b639-6baa1d3-ef66a77-d866f25-f36d45f - GNU/Linux Debian testing (32bit) English UI"

When the text is copied, the message "Importing document..." is shown in status bar and the progrees bar starts to increase. After 8-9 minutes, the progress bar is completely loaded and you can see how text is being copied (191 pages) but after this, LO hangs.

Confirmed. Marking as NEW and prioritizing.

MAJOR (causes LibO to completely lag, makes it unusable) + Low (I don't think many users are trying to paste 190 pages of HTML stuff).

Thanks for the easy to understand report, we appreciate your contribution :)

tested with 4.1.4.2 under Win7 64bit with different browsers:

Opera 12.16 --> no hang
Internet Explorer 11 --> no hang

all text and images are pasted in a few seconds.

I mark this as RESOLVED WORKSFORME
feel free to reopen if you still reproduce it with recente LibO releases
