When X starts up, one can see an ugly background for the time X is loading. The same ugly background appears again when switching to another vt (X->console, console->X, X->X, but not console->console).

Expected results:
* black background while performing any of the mentioned actions

Actual results:
* black background (it should be completely black actually)
* white diagonal "lines" or actually white blocks,
  similar to something represented by the following ascii graphics
