Description Phillip Berndt 2012-04-22 12:03:03 UTC
I am using an Alesis iO4 [1], which is an external USB audio device. It has 4 input and 4 output channels, which ought to be used to connect four instruments (or two stereo instruments) to the PC and to get two stereo signals from it to 2x2 speakers. ALSA detects this as one 4-channel input and one 4-channel output, which is then interpreted by PulseAudio as one 4-channel input and a sorround output. While for most use cases this interpretation was correct, it is clearly wrong here: I'd expect two stereo inputs (or four mono) and two stereo outputs.

It would be nice if I could configure this by simply selecting another profile from the GUI.
