Description spb.nevill 2012-04-29 15:08:21 UTC
I have recently upgraded to Kubuntu 12.04 and noticed this bug. After I log in, the volume for my internal audio card is set to 100% for ouput (speakers) and 0% to input (mic).

Only the internal card is affected. I have an USB audio card, and the system remembers what its volume settings were.

I have tried pulseaudio -k and the settings were not reset when PulseAudio restarted. They only reset after logging in. I have alsamixer open in a VT, so I can see when this change happens.

I also had a problem when the output method switches to speakers after a relogin, even if the headphones were plugged in. The problem kind of solved itself after I disabled my sound card and then reenabled it, but it could still be related to the one described above.

Correction.

The problem with headphones did not fix itself. If I look at output devices in pavucontrol after I log in, I see Headphones as my current port, yet the sound comes from the speakers. It takes switching to speakers and then back to headphones (or unplug headphones and plug them back in) to fix the problem.

Pulseaudio: 1:1.1-0ubuntu15
Alsa-base: 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu1
Kubuntu: 12.04
Kernel: 3.2.0-24-generic

I have a laptop LG S900-U.CP38R, if that helps.

The problem fixed itself after upgrading to kernel 3.2.0-25-generic.
