I get a scrambled screen (four blurry miniaturized version of the same display) when I boot in EFI mode (EFI stub).

Are you using gfxpayload=keep in your grub config?  If so does it help if you remove it?  Can you also try a 3.8 kernel?  Specifically this patch:

I don't use grub (I boot through rEFIt thanks to EFISTUB).

I'll try 3.8 ASAP.
