The "us" layout is used throughout the world as a basic layout for Latin
character input, widely serving as the primary layout. Labeling it as "USA" and
tranlated equivalents doesn't connect well with the global usage of this layout.

What will the president of Iran say if his computer displays "USA" on the
desktop panel? ;)

Suggestion: replace the country-bound connotation of the label with more
adjective-meaning origin name, such as "US" in English or an abbreviation for
"american" in other languages.

In English, there is _absolutely_ no difference between US and USA. Regarding
translations - every translator uses what's more appropriate for his
country/language.
And historically, it is really US layout. So if someone is using it - he/she
should be aware of this fact, even if it is the president of Iran (though I
think his personal translator will put shortDescription according to the current
political situation).
Let's not get too political here.
