Crashes every time I use crop or selection tools in gimp or inkscape.

Multi monitor system with ubuntu 12.04 64bit

Well perhaps I could have provided more information 6 years ago when starting with linux. But now it is 2018 and I already use Ubuntu 18.04 so this issue is too old to provide any more information...
