Description pierre-yves samyn 2012-08-26 06:08:20 UTC
Hello

Start LibO causes an endless loop (endless display the message "synchronize bundled extensions")

Need to kill the process

Steps to reproduce
1. Uninstall previous version
2. Delete user profile
3. Custom Install
4. Optional components> Extensions> Do not install (no extension)
5. Finish install
6. Start LibO

Splash screen and an endless loop (endless display the message "synchronize bundled extensions")

May be related (but seems different) to bug 53968

Platform: windows 7 64bits & Version 3.6.1.2 (Build ID: e29a214)

Reproduced on windows XP

Regards
Pierre-Yves

Importance critical, IMHO, because of necessity to kill the process

Hi Rainer,

Do you reproduce this bug under MS-Windows ?

Best regards. JBF

@Jean-Baptiste Faure
At least I can say that there were no problems with a normal installation after uninstall of 3.6.0.4, but that's not reporter's problem. Hope I will find the time to try later.

NOT reproducible with parallel installation of Master "LOdev 3.7.0.0.alpha0+ - ENGLISH UI [Build ID: 6900781]" {tinderbox: 2008R2@20, pull time 2012-08-25 21:36:16} on WIN7 Home Premium (64bit).

I uninstalled old Master, renamed User Profile and installed without any optional component. Worked fine, first launch without any problems.

Second attempt as before, but for installation only "Extensions" in optional components unselected, rest as per default. Same good result.

That all tells us nothing about situation with 3.6. And may be there is a particular unknown relation between Extensions what only causes problems if a particular compination installed - uninstalled is on PC?

And of course, in nrmal builds more extensions as in this reduced build might be shipped, especially languages.

We need more relevant information. What comonents EXACCTLY have been installed? What languages, ...

I cannot reproduce either with LO 3.6.1.2 (Build ID: e29a214) on Windows 7, even not when deselecting all bundled extensions, including dictionaries (mark both "Optional Components - Dictionaries" and "Optional Components - Extensions" as "This feature will not be available." at installation, so that "Tools - Extension Manager..." will display empty in LO).

Ok, thank you for the test...

But this is not exactly the situation described, because if the launch was possible, in my case the extension manager would have displayed the French dictionnary : "Dictionnaires orthographique, des synonymes et règles de coupure 4.5"
("spelling dictionaries, synonyms and rules cut 4.5")

However, I'm not sure this is enough to explain you cannot reproduce...

I reproduce the bug on another PC running Windows XP Pro

I seem to have better identified the problem: no problem if I only install the English dictionary.

It seems that the French dictionary is involved in the bug... ?
