I just installed Xorg 6.7.0 and I am running kernel 2.6.5 smp, and when I start
gnome, I get:

If you report this situation as a bug, please include:
- The result of xprop -root | grep XKB
- The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb

this has been at least reported 10 times

and what do those command output ?

if there is xfree86 something somewhere, replace lines in your xorg config files
containing "xfree86" by "xorg"
