Description pjb1 2013-01-23 16:58:47 UTC
Error message "(EE) intel(0): Failed to submit batch buffer, expect rendering corruption or even a frozen display: Resource deadlock avoided." The log fills with many copies of this message.

See thread https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=156486
Google does not find this error message anywhere but in that one thread.

Symptom is that console or browser text windows lock up, go black, or text is overwritten when attempting to scroll back and forth with large windows, or "it appears immediately after using some fast-refreshing screen apps like mplayer2 or skype video." A reboot fixes it, for a while. It's apparently seen on Atom processors with low graphics performance. Motherboard is an Intel D510MO, the driver is i915.

My upgrades that showed this bug were:
upgraded xf86-video-intel (2.20.13-1 -> 2.20.18-1)
upgraded xorg-server (1.13.0-4 -> 1.13.1-1)
upgraded xorg-server-common (1.13.0-4 -> 1.13.1-1)
upgraded xorg-bdftopcf (1.0.3-2 -> 1.0.4-1)

One user who saw this said downgrading xf86 to 2.20.17 fixed it.

Is this with a composited wm? Can you please confirm which version of libdrm-intel you have installed?
