image of chart wizard with indication where the location choice could be shown

Problem description:
Calc offers only a chart being on the same sheet as the data. Although copying a chart on a new sheet and expand it full window size is possible and maintain the links to the data. However, this takes a lot of work and reduces productivity.

Solution:
Enable Calc to let users choose location of charts can be selected
- beside data only
- in a separate sheet only (like MS EXCEL)
- beside data AND in a separate sheet. (not available in EXCEL thus a unique feature of Calc)

Default: beside data

Location of the new feature: at the bottom of the chart wizard; see attached image, yellow marked text

The idea came up in AskLibO

I think we are talking about something similar as we already have for the pivot table. There we have a selector "Results to", where it can be selected where the pivot table should appear.

@bugquestcontri
is my assumption correct?

I am not aware of the pivot table issue, thus, cannot sat Yes or NO.

This requires to support chart sheets and is a big task. It is part of our GSoC ideas but I have no idea if there will be a student applying for it.

It requires us to rework how we handle sheets in calc core.

I am sorry to hear that this requires a major change.

I keep fingers crossed that someone applies for this job because it really would be a very nice feature. Especially the part "beside data AND in a separate sheet. (not available in EXCEL thus a unique feature of Calc)"
