hm these are both possible. Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Uncheck Use a java runtime environment for macro recording: Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> "Enable macro recording" - note that this is experimental and therefore in our advanced options That's precisely what I'm trying to avoid, by way of an install switch. ah my mistake. Confirmed and seems very helpful. ProposedEasyHack In order to limit the confusion between ProposedEasyHack and EasyHack and to make queries much easier we are changing ProposedEasyHack to NeedsDevEval.
