This is a feature request to enable linking data from a spreadsheet or database to an object in draw in a manner similar to MS Visio.  This is critical for well managed networks using a database as the authoritative mechanism for data and management.

Please provide more information as to what this linking would do. Do you mean that you click on the shape and a document opens? A screencast of what visio does or documentation of some kind will be useful.
